Carver have manufactured a range of industrial clamps for welding and metal/wood-working use for over 40 years. It may surprise you to learn that Carver has been part of industry in Walsall in the West Midlands for the past 200 years and moved to Bromsgrove, Worcestershire in 2000. Joseph Carver established the company in 1776 as a saddler, collar and whip thong manufacturer. Throughout its history there has always been a family member involved. Before the war the company introduced some engineering production although walking sticks, drains and chimney cleaning apparatus were also made. The introduction of the world famous Carver clamps followed in the 1950's, along with a host of other products including special purpose machines and tube bending facilities. Carver manufactured its first work holding equipment in 1952. However, the engineering business developed from the saddlery business as a means to support the manufacture of riding crops, special engraving, silver wear and engineering equipment manufacture used by businesses in the Walsall Borough.
